A Fix for Your Parenthood Withdrawal
This might be the first time that I have e'er blogged abouttelevision. But the bear witness Parenthood was my favorite show currently on Television until it ended this by calendar week (and, admittedly, one of the but shows I actually watch these days). There were several times over the years that I didn't agree with the writers of the testify in how they handled situations (or the morals they conveyed), but information technology was probably one of the cleanest shows on network goggle box in contempo history and I absolutely loved the focus on family.
I was pretty disappointed with the series in the fall, when they only showed one-half the actors every calendar week (and then the other one-half the following week) in what I assume was an effort to save coin. Y'all can't sentinel the Braverman's without watchingallthe Braverman'south, am I correct?!?! Simply they more than redeemed themselves the terminal four episodes of the series. The final two episodes, specially, were absolutely incredible. I call back fifty-fifty my husband might accept gotten a footling teary-eyed (but don't tell him that I told you that). :)
(spoiler alert: stop reading hither if you haven't seen the final episodes and skip down a picayune ways)
-Joel and Julia dorsum together –finally!
-Bister naming her son subsequently Zeek.
-Sarah's wedding to Hank (is it just me or has their human relationship always felt awkward? It was beautiful nonetheless).
-Joel and Julia deciding to adopt Victor'due south half-sister.
-Zeek's death.
-And the most poignant of all–the wink-forward scenes of each family cut in during the family baseball. I sobbed during this part of the show.
It was a beautiful ending to a great serial that portrayed a real family unit, with fights and squabbles, and issues to overcome. But with a constant thread of love that continually stitched them together.
Family is at times messy, but oh-and so-beautiful.
I kind of experience like I grew up inmyparenting alongside the Braverman'southward. Despite all the ways that our morals might differ, I watched the evidence and idea, "I promise our little family unit is this close and loving every bit anybody grows upward." It as well reminded me of the closeness of my family unit and my husband's family. I am so thankful for the approving of growing up with such an amazing, imperfect, beautiful, loving family.
So if you are finding yourself lamentable that Parenthood is over and looking for something family unit-based and sentimental, here are a few of my recommendations.
Sentinel Parenthood once more and once more!
It'due south on Netflix and Amazon Prime number, so why not? :)
Okay, okay…this recommendation might have been a fleck too obvious.
Read theRedemption series by Karen Kingsbury
You volition autumn in dearest with the Baxter family in this series of books, perhaps even more than you cruel in honey with the Braverman's. The first book,Redemption is intense only sets the stage for the residual of the books in the serial. Hither are the books in their guild:
1. Redemption
2. Remember
3. Return
four. Rejoice
5. Reunion
These books are seriously astonishing. The author, Karen Kingsbury, continues on with several more series that tie in the Baxter family, but none can compare to her original series. I was likewise amazed with how a piece of fiction could encourage me in my human relationship with God, but these books most definitely did!
I also only readA Piddling Salty to Cut the Sweetby Sophie Hudson. It was a memoir (compiled of curt stories nearly her family), and so it isn't fiction like theRedemptionseries but it was a fun read!
Sentry Friday Nighttime Lights, 7th Heaven, Growing Pains, Full House, Everwood, and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.
Friday Dark Lights is a shut second equally far as favorite recent shows go. And I don't really even like football all that much. It is on Netflix streaming–sentinel the outset 3 episodes and you will exist hooked!
As for the residuum of my recommended list…call me the cheesiest person on the planet, but I loved watching all of these serial growing up and withal honey the sweetness and innocence of these shows.
7th Heaven is bachelor on Amazon Prime Instant Video and the other series are bachelor on the DVD rental portion of Netflix (not streaming).
Spotter movies virtually families!

A few of my other favorites areFather of the Helpmate, Marley and Me, Steel Magnolias, andCheaper by the Dozen , (anyone catching on to a Steve Martin theme…I just noticed it myself. Apparently I really like him). :)
